Impact-abrasive wear resistance of high alumina ceramics and ZTA

In transport of raw materials abrasive wear resistance is a requirement, which can be met with alumina ceramics. At certain locations additional impact load occurs, exacerbating the loss. As literature on impact-abrasive ceramics scarce this topic will researched in work. We selected variety commercial (90–96% Al2O3) and according to much more resistant – substantially expensive Zirconia Toughened Alumina (ZTA, 20–25% Zr) used for linings dominated systems. Impeller-Tumbler test, an impact-abrasion test evaluation highly loaded ceramic edges. Two regimes were evaluated abrasive, either corundum particles severe or steel balls extreme conditions.
